What do you see? is a personal perspective of being a second-generation immigrant. This footage recalls my experience at the SAQ in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield during Legault's first election, with my father, to get my first learner's driving license. I wanted to focus on the sonic experience and evoke the dramatic, alienating ambiance the SAQ made me feel. Being born in Ottawa to Haitian parents and living most of my life in Quebec, I feel a sense of non-acceptance written on certain people's faces, and exploring my father's take on what it means to be a Canadian citizen is part of my healing identity journey.
